Prof. Kithure Kindiki is the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. He was sworn in on Friday 1st November, 2024 at an auspicious ceremony that took place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
Before his current position, Prof. Kindiki served as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration. Before that, he served as the Senator for Tharaka Nithi County for a decade and also as the Senate Deputy Speaker and Senate Majority Leader.
Prof. Kindiki is a distinguished Professor of Law, with a career spanning 24 years and has previously consulted for international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, the United Nations and UN specialized agencies such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and United Nations Development Programme. He also practiced Defense Counsel at the International Criminal Court at the Hague and previously taught law at Moi University and the University of Nairobi, School of Law.
Prof. Kindiki, holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree from Moi University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law, a Masters of Law (LL.M) degree, and a Doctorate in International Law (PhD Int.Law) from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is a prolific author.
